Combo Gauges with Switch Machine Overload Test Block and Go-No Switch Obstruction Gap Gauges

The S&C 236-382K Series Combo Obstruction Gauge & Switch Overload Test Block is used to conduct both a switch obstruction test and a switch machine overload circuit test. Based on our widely acclaimed Switch Obstruction Gauges, this Gauge includes a pair of Go and No-Go Gap Gauges (1/4″ & 3/8″  shown) to accommodate one type or brand of switch machine and a 1 inch block creating an obstruction  of sufficient size to prevent the switch points from reaching the position where machine travel stops.  A point blocked from closing, results in current to the motor rising to the level that activates the overload circuit.  Our 355 Signalman’s Meter with accessory Current Clamp makes reading the current easy, without taking a wire loose.  As is the case with the Switch Overload Test Block itself, the Combo Gauge can be furnished with either the tool chrome-plated, steel Block or the rubber Block.

The “feet” on the ends of the hoop spring stabilize the gauge at the proper height to allow the Gap        Gauges and Block to function and assist in making the Gauge self-retaining.   Optional 18 inch and 29 inch handles eliminate bending and squatting where high-volume testing is done.  Gauge is not throw- away.  Can be maintained.

At this point, we have ten Gap Gauge pieces with different combinations of dimensions that can be selected for the Obstruction Test function.  Refer to the following table.  If you do not find the precise combination you need for your situation, please contact us.  We started with two Gap Gauge dimension combinations.  Today we have ten.  It is likely that more will be added in the future.

If you are fortunate enough to have a territory with only one type or brand of switch machine, the Combo Obstruction Gauge & Switch Overload Test Block is all you will need to make two common tests of  switches and switch machines.  Choose the Gap Gauge dimension pair from those listed in the below table.  Add the Suffix listed to the end of the basic ordering reference which is either:  236-382K (steel Block) or 236-382KR (rubber Block)  Examples:  Gauge with 1/4″ & 3/8″ Gap Gauge dimensions:  236-382K-2 or 236-382KR-2

Handles can be added to the Combo Gauge to make high-count testing less demanding.
